A New Vision

Imagine a world without disability / where human differences aren’t measured as flaws / and people are accepted for who they are. / Just belonging can open closed doors.

So begins a new book written by Rise’s Vice President Don Lavin. It is the seventh book he has written for the disability-related field, but the first one written not exclusively for professionals or consumers within the field of employment and community rehabilitation.

“A NEW VISION shares how we at Rise view the roles and involvements of people who have disabilities in their communities,” said Lavin.

Reach for the Stars

Reach for the Stars was written to challenge direct service staff to become effective, skilled agents of change — to become high-performing community rehabilitation professionals. Reach for the Stars is the right book for CRPs who believe that being good just isn’t good enough. It was written primarily as a staff development and training resource for anyone who is employed as a professional in a community rehabilitation agency.

Reach for the Stars can be used effectively with new and experienced staff alike.

Working on the Dream

Working on the Dream is a self-administered, step-by-step career planning guide for people with mental health disabilities in their pursuit of meaningful employment. The publication not only gives a practical guide to understanding the ADA and how this landmark legislation impacts employability, but will help people identify job preferences, marketable talents, and employment barriers through structured planning activities.
